Tesla, affectionately called Tes by his friends (and Stringbean by one in particular), was born into an affluent family and grew up on the relatively quiet and peaceful Lux Island. As a child, Tesla was enamored with Electric-Type Pokemon and that love still resounds like thunder today. Tesla helped found the Mirova League alongside two phenomenal battlers starting out as a member of the Elite Four, eventually becoming Champion of the Region, after putting in countless hours of hard work into the League and often drags the Elite Four into helping him to work-much to the once diligent Tael's dismay.

Tesla loves spending time with the League, working on his own, randomly thought-up, specialized projects and, obviously, battling. While Tesla is a charismatic individual who is often seen surrounded by people, he's actually pretty introverted and prefers to be alone or not around many others. Tesla can be overly friendly with some people and it's actually very rare for him to actually outright hate another person. Tesla works painstakingly hard to keep the league in order, making sure everything is run as smoothly and systematically as possible. Is this to say that Tesla is without his faults? Oh hell no. He tends to ignore people a LOT,  typically doesn't heed the advice of others until it's too late and will contradict himself a lot of the time. In spite of his faults, Tesla has earned the friendship and respect of his friends and without him, the League would not be the same.

Tesla, known as Tes by his friends, was born on Lux island in the Mirova region and, along with his younger sister Ellie, was raised by his Grandmother. From an early age he was told stories about how his father had died many years ago while trying to catch the legendary Pokemon Zekrom. That all changed when Tes turned 14.

While exploring the small island, in search of Pokemon, he came across a sleeping Rhyperior. Eager at the chance to catch such a powerful pokemon he threw his pokeball. The Rhyperior broke free instantly:awakened and furious. It charged at Tesla and was about to strike when a flash of light appeared from nowhere and the Rhyperior lay motionless on the sandy ground. There, standing nearby, was an orange and black pokemon panting in the shade. "Arcanine, return." said a voice nearby. A mysterious red-haired man approached the spot where Tesla had fallen.  "Can you stand up?" he asked calmly. Tesla rose to his feet when the man suddenly unleashed a hard strike to Tesla's right cheek. "What are you doing trying to catch a Rhyperior without any pokemon to aid you!? Any fool knows that in order to catch a pokemon you need to lower its HP first! Didn't your father teach you something as simple as that?" The red haired man started to nurse the injured rhyperior. Tesla, slowly shaking off the hard blow replied "I don't have a father... or a mother. I was told my father was killed while trying to find the legendary pokemon Zekrom. My mother abandoned me after his disappearance. I've lived here with my grandmother and sister ever since. My name is Tesla. What's your’s?" The red-haired man stopped what he was doing and looked over at Tesla. "I'm sorry to hear that, my name is Chrom. The fire gym leader of this region. I am looking for a rare electric Pokemon that is supposed to live only on this island." "Why are you looking for an electric pokemon when you're the fire leader? " Tes asked. "well its not for me, it's...." Chrom's response was cut short when a large tremor suddenly shook the island.

The Legend of Tesla

"What in Arceus' name was that?" Chrom asked as the earthquake ceased. Tesla had never experienced any tremor as large or violent as that in his entire life. "I need to check on my family! Thank you, for saving me, but I need to leave" "I understand." Chrom replied, "We can get there faster on my arcanine." The two road to the Island's town and their hearts sank when they saw the aftermath. Most of the buildings were leveled and injured civilians roamed the streets. The two were heading towards Tesla’s  home when they were blocked by a large circle of angry citizens gathered in a circle. The two moved between the crowd until they came to the center where they saw a mysterious snow white and horned pokemon. "Kill the Pokemon!" cried one of the onlookers. "That pokemon showed up right before this earthquake happened. Its all the damned thing's fault!" Chrom turned to Tesla "Tesla, go! Run home to check on your grandmother. I need to talk with these people. We'll meet up later." Tesla ran down the road as Chrom began to speak. “Listen everyone! This pokemon is Absol, the disaster pokemon. The pokemon was a warning of a coming catastrophe. And the fact that it's still here is a bad sign. I urge you to gather your family and  escape this island by plane, or flying pokemon, while you still can.” Many of the inhabitants ignored Chrom, calling him crazy or paranoid. But, a few listened and lived to tell the tale of that fateful day.

Tes burst through the front door of his grandmothers house. But she was nowhere to be found.  Tes spied a note and a pokeball on the kitchen counter. He rushed to the note to read it, "Tessy, I have gone to the lighthouse with Ellie to bring the Ampharos some food. I've left your father's Zapdos here in case you needed to go to the store for anything. Love Grandma Rose." Tesla frantically ran outside and met up with Chrom. Tesla knew time was short, they had to save his Family. "Go Eaglectric! Take us to Lux Lighthouse!"  The Zapdos spread its wings and took off into the clouds. From the massive height Tesla could see his entire island, from the town where he grew up, to the lighthouse on the edge of the sea and the endless expanse of undulating blue beyond. That’s when he saw it. A towering wall of water on the horizon, clearly out of place. And, it was coming straight for the island. “Oh, no...” Chrom uttered through the gusts of wind, “...the earthquake: it must have triggered a tsunami!  We need to hurry!” Zapdos perched itself on the lighthouse window as Tesla rushed inside looking for his family. Upon entering he could hear screams coming from the floor directly above him. Tesla started to ascend when there was a loud creek in the floor beneath him, and an abrupt quake took him by surprise. Suddenly, the stairwell beneath Tesla’s feet gave in and he started to fall, but was pulled back to safety just in the nick of time by Chrom. Chrom jumped over the gap and helped Tesla across. “Aftershocks- be careful, there may be more.” Upon reaching the top of the stairs, Tes turned the corner to meet his family when a sudden thud from above Tesla's head knocked him off his feet and his vision faded.

During his unconscious state Tesla dreamed. He was playing hide and seek with Ellie in their island home. It was his turn to count. "1, 2, 3, 4..." Tesla called out the numbers while covering his eyes. He opened them and drew back; the whole home was immersed in water from floor to ceiling. He started to move around the house visiting each and every room where he had grown up and played all his life. After having searched nearly every room, with no results, he came to the final room, his room. As he opened the door he saw the familiar site of his bed, desk, and stuffed pokemon toys strewn across the floor. Yet in the far most corner he saw the silhouette of his sister crying. Assuming she was hurt he rushed to her side, but the more he tried to reach her the farther away she got. "Why couldn't you find us?" he heard her sobbing. "Why couldn't you find me?".

A sudden sharp pain in his arm jerked him awake. "It's just a shot." said a soothing female voice. "Try not to make any sudden movements." Tesla strained to open his eyes and as his blurriness faded he came face to face with the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. He tried to speak but was interruppted by Chrom entering the room. "Ah, I see you met the local nursing student Joy. She works and studies at the town's pokemon center." Chrom paused to light a cigaret "You're in my gym, now. We would have brought you to the pokemon center, but they are completely full of injured victims from Lux island." Tesla staggered to his feet. "My family- did they make it?". Chrom took in a deep puff of smoke before speaking. "A beam from the ceiling knocked you out. The lighthouse was collapsing and I just got you out in time. I didn't have time to find your family. I'm sorry."

During the weeks of recovery, Tesla learned Chrom was a student under his Father, Mirov. Chrom explained that before he could graduate from Mirov’s dojo he would need to find the legendary pokemon Zekrom. Not to catch it, but in order to fully appreciate the beauty destructive power pokemon have.

Under Chrom's tutelage Tesla trained for a whole year. Eventually, the time came when Chrom recognized that in order to continue becoming stronger, Tes would need to begin his adventure and experience the world first hand. When telling Tesla of the necessity to leave the gym Chrom handed him a folded letter. "Tes, your father gave me this before he left. He told me I would meet his son one day and to give him this if he wanted to know more about his father. I thought it would only depress you so I withheld it until now, but I can't in good conscious let you leave without reading it." Tesla took the letter from Chrom and began to read.

“Tes…I suppose you now know that I am alive. I’m guessing that by the time you read this letter you’ll be well into your Pokémon Adventure and will have probably have lost all interest in me and moved on. I have not been a good father to you. I valued my own goals and desires over my parental duty… and I’ll be the first to tell you I haven’t changed. As you read this I’m probably off chasing rare Pokémon and seeing the world. If you want to meet me you’re going to have to find me. But I warn you, doing so will require every bit of willpower and resolve you have from both you and your Pokémon. I’m harder to catch than any Zekrom. Good luck”

7 years later…

Tesla had finally reached the peak of his journey through the Mirova region and achieved victory over the Pokemon League.

The day Tesla defeated the Elite 4 and became the champion of the Mirovan League was the happiest day of his life. He shook the former Champions hand and was escorted to the renowned Hall of Fame. Tesla gazed awestruck at the beauty of the room. Marbled floors and onyx statues all centered around the main computer which recorded the Pokémon of all those who enter the Hall of fame. Tesla placed his poke balls one at a time in the machine and as they appeared on the screen flashbacks of the adventures and bonds he made with them flooded into his mind. Ampharos, Zapdos, Thundurus, Magnezone, Rotom, and Eelektross. Standing in the Hall of Fame he knew he had done his father proud. It was then when he remembered that his father was the first one to enter the Hall of Fame. Surely, there had to  be some clue of his current whereabouts on this computer! Tesla searched his father’s name on the computer and was delighted to see a set of GPS coordinated labeled under the header “Current location.”

The next day, despite the rain clouds forming overhead, Tesla took his Zapdos and flew towards the coordinates he had gotten from the HOF PC. As he descended to the coordinates a thick fog encompassed him. He recalled his Zapdos and continued on foot. That’s when Tesla bumped his leg into a hard object. He bent down to see what it was. Tesla’s heart sank when he realized it was a tombstone. He was in a graveyard. Tesla immediately realized why the coordinates had sent him to this spot. He frantically rushed around checking each grave and eventually came upon a relatively large onyx stone. Her lies Mirov Tesla. Champion, Father, Friend. A gravekeeper doing his daily rounds noticed a young man crying at the onyx statue. “He said you would come” the old man said solemnly. Tesla looked at the man in a puzzled look. “You’re his son right?” Tesla nodded. The gravekeeper signaled  for Tesla to follow him and after a short walk they came to an old cottage at the graveyard’s border. They entered the house and the old man retrieved a wooden box off of the shelf. He handed it to Tesla. In his Will, he gave specific instructions to give this box to his son when he visits. Tesla hastily opened the box. Inside was a short note, and a pokeball.

“My son Tesla, I’m so sorry I couldn’t meet you in person. The doctors say I only have a few days left. But I am not sad. This is how it was supposed to happen, I know this now. Everything happens for a reason. When the wave hit Lux island I thought I had failed everyone I had known. I wasn’t there to protect my own children, just like I wasn’t there to protect my beloved wife. Yesterday, I received word from my student that you were being taken care of by him at his home. I know you were spared for a greater purpose, and I know your deeds in this world will give my life meaning. Inside this box I have left my Raichu. He has been my companion for my whole life and I know he will be of help to you, too. Make good friends, overcome any resistances, and reach your full potential son. I love you. – Your Father, Mirov”

As Tesla flew away from that graveyard, the burden on his heart had been lifted. He still had many more adventures to have, friends to make, and destinies to fulfill. But for now he was happy.
